FALL TURF RENOVATION 2010
Annual turf renovation is an environmentally friendly way to improve the quality of your lawn. We live in an area where soil type, weather patterns and turf varieties make turf renovation a critical step to maintaining a quality lawn. Turf renovation consists of annual aeration, dethatching and slit seeding. The effect of the green movement has spurred interest in efficient water and fertilizer usage and the best way to accomplish this is through annual turf aeration. We at Valerie M. Bruns, Inc. adopted an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach to lawn care over thirty years ago. An IPM program stresses the importance of responsible use of fertilizers, irrigation, effective mowing practices and turf renovation.
TURF AERATION, also known as core aeration, removes plugs of compacted soil, improving turf root growth and the effect of fertilizer and water.
TURF DETHATCHING mechanically removes excessive thatch (grass clippings) and improves the effectiveness of fertilizers and water.
SLIT SEEDING mechanically inserts new seed just below the topsoil surface, adding new and better varieties of grass seed to the lawn and improving the quality of the turf to withstand disease and drought.
A healthy lawn can increase property value between 5% and 15%. And it’s a fact well maintained properties sell 27% faster than non-maintained properties whether they be a single or multi-family home.
Plan now to improve the look of your lawn and increase the value of your home.
